A summery of Your Favorite Annoying T...

Hello, I am YFAT or Lo. I have been writing/around on Journal Scape for over a decade now. Time flies! This journal chronicles my random thoughts, high moments and sometimes low, throughout high school, college, and now beyond, into the world of "adulthood", whatever that means.

Sinerely, ~Lo

Legal to Practice

So...because this is significant in the Life of Lo: I have at last acquired a Driving Learner's Permit. This is good because it means I will finally have proof of ID to do all those things that being over 18 and over 21 allow you to do. Adult stores cannot turn me away and I can purchase my own booze should I so wish. Oh yes and I can start driving as well.

I did take a turn around my neighborhood without crashing into anything and without freaking the fork out.

The advantage of acquiring my learners permit at 21 is that it is around $20 cheaper (only $67 instead of $87) because something about being older makes you less destructive and less likely to be in an accident. Yup, now that I can legally drink and smoke and buy porn and join a political party I'm totally going to safer. But maybe it is the assurance that by 21 most people have passed through puberty and won't have raging hormone attacks on the road.

I also have a library card at my local college so I can head in and start to do thesis research now. I just need to ask about online databases and I'm good to go.

One of the great things about the summer is that I finally have time to completely lose myself in books for a few days. I recently purchased a stack of 10 new books at Big Lots for the insane price of $5.40. Mom and I are sharing them and so far I am really enjoying myself. I stopped at the public library today and found out Elizabeth Moon has a new book out Oath of Fealty and am setting other things aside to dive into it. Elizabeth Moon's The Deed of Paksenarrion is my go-to bored-with-everything-else-on-my-shelf read. I never tire of it. It is richly detailed and a good fantasy read, even if Paks can be a bit annoying with how perfect she is. (I rejoice every time I encounter a believable and strong female character that isn't Holier or Sluttier Than Thou. Paks does not fall under this category).

What's also good about summer: my sister's Rottweiler puppy, Auggie, who is rediculously cute and has a really great personality. Him and Angus, our younger Shepard, are best buds and love to play together. Angus tends to have more drive though, where Auggie just wants to put his jaws to use and hang onto Angus's neck whenever he can. It is really funny when Angus is sprawled out on the floor in a rare moment and Auggie slinks up behind and decides now is the time to sit on Angus's head. Hilarity quickly ensues.
In the topic of dogs my Bizzy is very happy for me to be home. She still hasn't shed her clingyness...problematic when I want to take a walk up My Hill and Bizzy really can't handle that kind of a hike anymore.

The update on Matt: we have spoken periodically through AIM but maybe only six times since I've been home and at most continually only twenty minutes. I have only talked to him on the phone once. My feelings on this matter are mixed. I've been attempting to write him a love letter for nearly two months but it just isn't coming. I haven't really felt that much gravitation on his part either, which can be really frustrating. We'll see how it goes. I just need to not over-think it (as I tend to do). Whatever happens happens.

That's the news for now.
Peace.
~Lo
