(Very) Much Ado about Much Ado Books

It's been a while since I've written, and I feel very rusty at it. But as I often do, I have found a little article that I wanted to share with you, friends and relatives, about a book shop that is near and dear to my heart, "Much Ado Books," located (now) in Alfriston, East Sussex, England.

And although I've never BEEN to Alfriston (shame on me!), this is probably my favorite book shop in the entire world.

How can that be, you ask?

Well, Much Ado used to be located in Marblehead, Massachussetts, USA. That's why! And when it was in Marblehead, I went in there as often as I could, as often as my budget would allow a book-splurge, and I was always, without fail, completely delighted by the owners, Cate and Nash, who would give me their full attention and conversation, often taking me around the shelves to show me books they thought I'd like. Their attention to detail was incredible.

Here is a review of their current Much Ado Books in Alfriston, E. Sussex, England, done by a bookshop reviewer, Erica, (now how perfect does THAT job sound???) Her own web site is wonderful, too, so don't ignore it if you have the time:

Have a little read (it's not long) and then come back.

See? What'd I tell ya? Isn't it perfectly charming?

But you should see the whole place, and you can by going to their wonderful web site here:

Lots of pages in there to browse through. Photos galore, and an ambiance that only seems to have existed in our imaginations before finding Much Ado. They are unique and they are wonderful. I am proud to say I was a friend of Much Ado Books back in the day when they were over here, across the Pond, and if there's ever a place I'd head to right away, if I could manage to ever visit England again, it would be this wonderful book shop in East Sussex, England (not far from the Bloomsbury locales).

They not only sell books, they offer a way of life that almost sounds too good to be true. But it is!

That's all I have for now.

Cheers for the Book-Angels of the world,

Bex

P.S. Nina, they also now have chickens!

P.P.S. One little additional offering, if I may: a review of a subject about which I wrote last year, Vera Brittain's "Testament of Youth," done by a woman whose blog I subscribe to:
