Spent the weekend in the high peaks region of the Adirondacks with 20 members of my hiking club. Temperature was in the 0s and 10s, but I was actually overdressed on the first day of hiking. I got really fatigued on the steep portion of Phelps on Saturday, and afterwards some more experienced hikers figured out that I had too many layers on. I also learned that Iced Tea isn't a great substitute for water even though it has a lower freezing point. In addition, I managed to get a huge blister on the back of my heel.

Phelps was about 9 miles and a 2000 foot climb with the bulk of the climbing in the last mile. Sunday, with the blister, I hiked about half that distance and elevation. With less layers on, I felt slightly cold, but much better than the day before.

It was a good experience. I was reluctant to get away from my computer game addiction, but I knew that I really needed to, and now I'm glad that I did.
