Last week marked the 20th anniversary of the explosion at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power plant, in the Ukraine.

Sadly it's too easy sometimes, to simply label something as a tragic event in history...even taking time to add 'one that should never be forgotten'.

Of course, it was a tragic event AND one that should never be forgotten. BUT...

This stunning Photo Gallery, recently put together by the National Geographic Society, brings home just how huge the tragedy IS...NOW. STILL.

It breaks my heart.
