Sometimes it's nice to be English. Even when the beer is American (a micro brew of course because the regular stuff sucks big time.).

Today it's nice to be English because the boys won 4-0 against the winners of Euro 2004.

Okay that happens to be Greece who were 'surprise' winners AND it was only a friendly match... but hey!!!

England won 4-0 today did I tell you that?

Steve McClaren must be laughing his Beckhamless socks off, whilst Beckham must be crying into his personalised boots.

I will miss Becks though, I really will *sigh*.

Come rain or shine, or shopping trip, or photo opportunity, World Cup kicks...either curling in the net, or lashing out..he was an icon. A hero. Our Captain.

...and damn he was pretty. Of course.

It's just not right that the last memory of him should be in the World Cup Finals, sitting on the bench, with a twisted knee, sobbing.

I sobbed too that day, and it still makes my heart sink.

Because I am English and that's what English people do.

And so I will raise my glass (or bottle, because, yes, this IS America) to David Beckham "Goldenballs"...

Long may you (and your 'Posh' wife) reign in Spain.

"Salud, amor y dinero".

"Cheers me dears".

(and to the rest of the team, old and new..."Come On England")
