My first time...

So, this is the first time I've ever done any blogging, and I have to admit that I'm a bit nervous about it! I would rather just put my toe in the edge of the water and not jump right on in, but I don't think that is how blogging works. I wonder, "Who will read this? Will anyone care? Do I have anything useful to share?" Yet I realized this week that even if no one else reads this I need an outlet in which to ponder ministry and motherhood and life in general. I also need others to possibly share some of their own wisdom on life, the universe and everything, so a blog seems like the best place to start.

So, about me...I'm an ordained Presbyterian minister serving as the chaplain of a small liberal arts college in the south. I am also the mother of 19-month old A. (a boy), and the wife of nearing-40 W. (I'm sure he'll love to read that!) We have several pets and live on the campus of S.L.A.C. (for short). We also own two houses across the south because we have listened to God's call to come to SLAC, but God has yet to help us dispense with the property. One of the things I'm meaning to ask God when I get the chance.

I did not grow up Presbyterian, which is something that you may read about from time to time as I run into my own feelings of guilt for leaving the Baptists and encounter a somewhat hostile religious environment where we live (ok, so maybe not hostile but at least suspicious of anything or anyone who does "Not Believe Like They Do.") You will probably also read about various other things I encounter with this current generation of college students, as well as about A. and all that motherhood and womanhood and spousehood (I know, I'm being like George W. and making up words) brings.

So, with fear and trembling and excitement, I now enter the world of blogging. I hope the water is not too cold!
