A's new words!

About a month ago, the Early Childhood Intervention folks went to A's school and did a developmental screening on him and the other kids in the class that A. did not do very well on. Basically, what it turned out to be was that he just was not interested in playing well with others that day. I know, I have visions of what this child will be like in high school..."I just didn't feel like showing my work." Just like his dad!

Anyway, one of the things they were worried about was language development, since the only word he said was "Baa." (I think he meant ball, but that is another story.) So, just for the record (and to record these things - as my sisters know I'm terrible at keeping up with all this!) I wanted to write down all the words he now says on a regular basis:

Boo
Brbee (Kirby, our dog - sounds a little like baby with an r)
Kitty
Dada
Baby
Happy
Ball
Cold
Hot
Shoe
Sock
Dog
Bird (well....sort of)
Horse
Duck
Car
Bubble
Hat
Bob (as in Bob the Builder)
Nana
Daddy Bob
Kathy
Hi
Bye-Bye
Please
More
Eye
No
Nose
Ear
Tooth/teeth (as in toothbrush, again, sort of)
Apple
Book
Read
Ice
Applejuice
Milk
AND Mama, Mama, Mama, Mama... (Oops! I forgot - see comments :-)

And he also makes the sounds for a dog, cat, bird (la la la) and horse. Oh! And a whale (don't ask :-)

So what if he doesn't end all his words with the right sounds? Yeah, so I'm a bit anxious about that so we are taking him to the ENT to get checked out. But other than that I'm so proud!

Our little guy is growing up...now I better watch what colorful language I use so he doesn't add that to his growing vocabulary!
