After several sunny, dangerously cold days here in the Frozen North, today is cloudy and slightly warmer. Of course, that means that precipitation isn't far away, but oh, well, one can't have everything.

On this day of darkness, I offer some rays of light:

*My last card/letter is sent! Hooray!

*WG got a terrific quarterly progress report from school! Huzzah!

*The Elders of my congregation enthusiastically and unanimously supported my being chosen for the Synod Stewardship project. Amen!

* I am getting a sizable raise next year. It feels doubly good to be appreciated and affirmed. I read a pithy piece of advice once: "Take the raise. In fact, insist on it. Even if you 'don't need the money', [who would that be true for?-CIP] your successor most likely will." Good advice. Thanks be to God!

* The bakery down the street, where I usually buy my lunch, had the most awesome chicken dumpling soup today, and, bonus(!) had day old danish for 50-cents. Score!

What's the Light on your Solstice?
