and the ginormous shoes.

A couple of days ago someone sent me a metaphor for ministry he had gotten from a late, great friend. Apparently somewhere there are circus clowns whose job it is to let monkeys scratch them.

"He would come out into the circus ring and the monkeys would rip him to shreds. It was just the clown’s job, his role—it was just in the nature of the circus."

The image made me laugh at myself just a little. (I hate monkeys. They creep me out.) But this line made me think prayerfully:

"We are not ultimately devoured by them, but we bleed."
