I went to one of those meetings this morning. The kind where every pastor in the county whose church is part of the county-wide cooperative congregation ministry is invited. This was the shoe count:

* Sixteen pairs of penny/tassel loafers
* One pair of sensible navy blue low-heeled pumps
* One pair of bejeweled sandals.


In other words, I was the only clergy woman there. The sensible pumps were worn by the agency executive director, a beaurocrat.

Sometimes I think my only job in these situations is to bring the pretty. (From the ankles down, I mean.)
