Rodent Ramblings You Don't Want to Ask. Really. 53698 Curiosities served |
2002-11-27 8:50 PM Cosmic Irony Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Productive Read/Post Comments (0) So, for my proposed uneventful, I'm not getting out of my pjs, leaving the house, or doing anything worthwhile day I've been pretty productive. I cleaned the ferret cage (Ick!), shovelled the driveway (Yes, I was dressed--jeans and sweater. I even had shoes on!), tidied up the laundry room (including the cats' litterbox), kitchen, and livingroom, and even got 212 more words done on my story. Now I am getting ready to go grocery shopping and pick up a birthday card for my brother-in-law. His present is suppose to arrive today too and so I will have to wrap it since we are celebrating the event tomorrow afternoon.
Oh, and in reference to the title of this entry, it started snowing while I was shovelling the driveway. Not a lot, just enough to be mocking. So, I'm off to find a card for a man I barely know and to grab munchies for the descending locusts that are coming tonight, also known as my role-playing group. This is assuming, of course, that one of my players doesn't cancel at the last minute. Again. There is a reason this weekly game happens less than once a month on average. I suppose I should plan what is happening today just in case. In other news, the Muhammad Ali of colds I have been losing to badly seems to have finally gotten bored. I'm not all better, but I'm getting there. ************************************************** Got the card, got the groceries, wrapped the present. I am going to sit and be brainless now until a) 5 PM when I have to start dinner and then game at 6 PM, or b) 6 PM when I make dinner after someone having called to say they can't make it and the game is cancelled. ************************************************** My unevenful day keeps getting more and more eventful. First, I found a pair of absolutely adorably bunny socks (I have a novelty sock fixation -- I love them!). Unfortunately, the socks were sold out. This misfortune was mediated, however, by the letter I got from Clarion East. No, I'm not in, not yet, but they're thinking about it! Apparently my stories got me a spot on the alternate list which the letter says gives me a good chance of getting in. Sure it's not a "We love you, buy your tickets," but it's also not a "You suck, learn to write." I'll take it and hope. Honestly, I am thrilled to know I am in the running. I've been doing a little happy dance all over the house in my novelty socks. Dinner's almost done and it's just after 4:30. So much for plan a and b. Ah well. I was bored anyway. The web browsing for socks was a dead give away. However, my wonderful and charming friend Rae has bailed me out of boredom. I finally decided to let my friends know that I started this journal (just never occurred to me before), and Rae emailed me letting me know she had one too. As she is a great friend who unfortuantely lives in Chicago this is a good thing 'cause I can keep up with what's going on with her. Thanks, Sweetie! If anyone is interested, Rae is a far more interesting, intelligent, and political person than I and her journal is well worth looking into if you can find it. I'd post the link, but I'm not sure if she'd approve, so maybe later. ************************************************* So, turns out one of my gamers went out of town without bothering to tell me or anyone else in the game. Grr...It worked out okay though since Brian, Kyle (the other gamer in the group that doesn't live here), Nikki (Kyle's girlfriend), and I all went to see Treasure Planet. It's not a movie I intended to see, but it was kind of fun and the animation was really well done. I want a Morphy. Plus, there was a preview for a new Pixar film. I can't say much about that though. The theater was having technical difficulties and there was no sound. When I got home there was a message from my bestest friend (she was my maid of honor), Mindy, so I gave her a call. I wish I could do more to cheer her up, but it was really nice to talk to her. I'm really looking forward to seeing her over Christmas when Brian and I go to Plattsburgh. And, of course, I am dying to see my family. Now, though I am getting sleepy and I still have a ton of work to do on my sociolinguistics paper if I want it done on time, so night, all!
