Missing my Mommy

Mood:
Grumpy

So it's the day after Thanksgiving and I got to see my hubby's family, which was nice, but I miss my mom and sister. It seems like forever since I've gotten to see them. We are visiting over Christmas, but that's so far away. Sigh...amazing that after all this time I can still get homesick, or at least family-sick since I can't stand my home town.

Today is slated to be that lazy, non-productive day I tried for before. So far, this attempt is going much more smoothly. I haven't even gotten dressed yet. Though, I do have to go grocery shopping and get one of my medicines refilled. At least I'm only on two now, having been taken off the antidepressant.

I know I didn't write much yesterday, but I was a little frazzled when I got back. The snow storm was really bad, and we were so lost. Plus, Brian doesn't handle either of those conditions well, and so having to deal with both kind of caused him to flip out. He's still commenting at random that he doesn't like snow.

I'm in a semi-foul mood and I am not sure why. It's possible I overslept and so the low energy feeling is making me so. Plus, the missing my family.

Anyway, I got some writing done today, though not much. I'm getting towards the end of the story I am working on, and I'm not sure how to wrap it up. There is a lot I want to put in it, and it's not all going to fit. Aw well...

*************************************************

Not a whole lot more to add for today. My recalcitrant gamer called and apologized for not calling. Being as he is one of the nicest people on the planet, I promptly forgave him.

I also got a letter from Clarion West today. It was basically an acknowledgement of receipt of my application, which, while not being an acceptance, is still good to know.

Other than that, my husband and I spent some quality time together. He trounced me at Scrabble.

I also started rereading the first Harry Potter book because I realized that I couldn't remember where he got his broom. Which means I am reading an insane amount of books all at the same time: PROBABILITY SPACE(Nancy's third book in the trilogy), NANOTECH (an anthology on, well, nanotech. "Blood Music" by Greg Bear is in that, and if you haven't read this, you should. It's lyrical, compelling, thought-provoking, and disheartening since I'll never be able to do that.), THE RED CHURCH (a strange little horror novel), and THINK LIKE A DINOSAUR. These are all in addition to the Harry Potter book, my school assignments, my thesis research, and Asimov's, F and SF, and Analog. I need to read faster.
