Rodent Ramblings You Don't Want to Ask. Really. 53632 Curiosities served |
2003-04-09 12:03 PM Busy Day Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Happy Read/Post Comments (0) I just finished shovelling the driveway. There should be a law against ice storms and five inches of snow two days in a row IN APRIL. Alas, I live in upstate New York, and no such legislation exists. Sigh...
Aside from that bit of fun, I also have to go grocery shopping today and clean the ferret cage. Oh, joyous! To backtrack for a minute, there's an amusing little anecdote associated with the ice storm. We lost power Saturday for quite awhile. We'd lost it thursday too, but it was back on Friday morning. It wasn't back Saturday morning. So Saturday we're sitting in a cold house without power when we realized that hey, we only have cordless phones. Dead cordless phones. So, no calling anyone to find out when power would be back or anything. No, problem, right? We can just drive somewhere, get food, find heat, whatever. Nope. Our garage is electric and there is apparently no emergenct latch. So, no car. What we did have, as my briliant husband pointed out, was a beeping UPS. For those who are not computer geeks reading this, that's a Universal Power Supply. It's basically a small generator to plug 'puters in in case of power loss. The fact that it was beeping is significant since it meant it still had power, not much mind you, but some. So, Brian plugged one of our phones into the UPS and called Tom's house. Sean answered, and after revealing that Tom's did, in fact, have power, came to get us. I have to admire my husband's ingenuity. It never would have occurred to me to try that. Anyway, back to gripping about my day. Actually, I pretty much covered the stuff that was wrong. The only other minor issue is that I am trying to compile some music to test my cd burner, the one I got for Christmas and finally installed a few days ago, and it's taking forever. Oh well. Plans for today include playing three dimensional ping pong (racquetball) with Brian and going to see a movie. For some reason Brian wants to play after dinner, so that may not happen, but I hope it does. There's some homework in there too, but that's about all. If anything else comes up I'll be back. For now, bye, all! Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
