It’s going to be harder to keep this journal than I expected but that may be because I’ve become the social director of the group. Makes for long nights but lots of laughs.

Really today was pretty much a standard day. I went to class, had a submission story critiqued, got brilliant and less so advice, had a conference with Howard Waldrop who said that the aforementioned story needed tightening but was saleable, got lost. The norm.

Seriously, the first day of critiquing went well. People were all diplomatic without resorting to just not saying anything. I think this is going to be an excellent group, and Howard is just great.

On the social end meals seem to be a great time to grab people, and tonight the night owls got together for a board game between working on stuff. It’s enlightening and fun so far. And it’s only the first official day.

On less positive notes, my throat is really bothering me. I suspect that this is from all the talking I’ve been doing, but if it keeps up at this rate by Wednesday I won’t have a voice. I may need to break out the throat candy. I also need to remember to wear my ball cap when walking around. My face is already burnt.

Well, I have three more stories to do for tomorrow (we got nine in two days) and I’d like to actually start my own writing in the near future, so night, all!
