This week's version of The Calhoun Chronicle online has just been updated.

You can follow the link to the left, or type in www.calhounchronicle.com.

Here's This week's Reporter's Reflections:

Enclosed in this week’s issue of the newspaper is a special insert entitled, Encounter Calhoun County. The first-ever recrea-tion and tourism publication designed for all of Calhoun County, it will also be sent to elected officials, to West Virginia visitor’s centers, neighboring counties, and to economic and tourism folks all across the state.

The project was not funded by a grant. Encounter Calhoun County is not the result of studies by economic developers or professional marketing experts. It was made possible by the support of advertisers--organizations and businesses within the community who believe Calhoun County has something to brag about . . . something to share with others, something to attract visitors to our area.

The publication will be “hitting the streets” at the prime moment--the beginning of the tourist season. Within these pages you will find the first ever full color map of Calhoun, with featured locations highlighted. You will find the first-ever map of Calhoun County Park with the trails, pavilions, and playgrounds marked. Although you may have lived in Calhoun County all of your life, I’m betting you will discover at least three things about Calhoun that you did not know.

We are pleased to share this piece with our readers, but we don’t want to “preach to the choir.” The whole point of the publication is to reach those who do not know Calhoun County. So, please, if and when you are finished with it, don’t throw it away. Pass it on to a friend or family member, perhaps to someone who you would like to have visit.

If you don’t want to share your copy and you have internet access, you can still share the information within by sending a link to the online version. Spread the good news of Calhoun County with a simple web connection to www.encountercalhoun.com. You can help us use these two venues (print and internet) to promote tourism and recreation in Calhoun County, to build our economy one visitor at a time.

This project has taken quite a bit of work, and so many people have helped. If you enjoy it, share it--and please let those who advertised within know you appreciate their investments in Encounter Calhoun County. Thank them for supporting this attempt to draw attention and tourism to the community.
