Get on with Spring!

Three days until Spring officially begins, but the weather may not know it.

It's these last few weeks where winter hangs on that sets me on the edge of my proverbial seat. We've had a taste of spring - a few warm days, daffodils about to blooms, ducks on the lake, the return of green to the fields and hillsides.

Let's just get on with it shall we? I'm sick of winter.

It seems as though my daffodils are always the last to bloom. I see their tell tale yellow in other people's yards on my way to work, but mine are holding back as if saying, "wait for it. . . wait for it. . ."

The forsythia put out one bloom yesterday. One little bloom on a bush branched out with new buds.

And the crocus I planted last fall? Haven't seen a sign of them.

On a warm day last week, I went out and "fluffed" the mulch in my flower beds. So I know, right below the surface, all my spring bulbs are waiting for the day when they know it is safe to show themselves.

I know they're under there. I saw them with my own eyes before covering them back up for protection.

But, the geese aren't nesting yet - even though they have started defending their space. And that tells me the truth:

Spring is still several days away.
