Who knew that stargazing was such a popular past time?

With the launch of Encounter Calhoun County on the internet, we've discovered that the article on Calhoun County Park's Bortle rating has become quite popular.

We also realized that about 10,000 club-affiliated stargazers live within 400 miles of us.

So, this morning, I added Calhoun Park's "Clear Sky Clock" to the Encounter Calhoun web site, so those who stumble upon the article can also see the upcoming "weather" for night sky viewing at our county park!

Maybe sometime soon, folks will have a star party here!

In other tasks, I was up until 1 a.m. putting all the potential consumer magazine markets for my writing on a web site.

You see, I had the Writer's Market, The Magazine Market, as well as the Travelwriters.com market list. I had notes in a notebook, in book margins, noting writer's guidelines online, email queries, etc.

I couldn't wrap my mind around them like that.

So, I put them all in one place - online - where I can just click links for more information.

Well, this week's State Journal has been released, with the "West Virginia's Generation Next" insert within. They took nominations for uprising professionals in the state - under the age of 40.

I nominated myself, and had others send in little tid bits as well, hoping to get selected so I could get Encounter Calhoun mentioned.

Well, they mentioned it, but not how to get a copy or where to view it online.

Sigh.

I love it when a plan comes together - and when it doesn't?

Sigh.

Oh well, at least it is something I can put on my resume' - not that I plan to apply for any new jobs soon, but . . .

Can you imagine living next to a lake or pond and not having a fishing pole?

Well, we've been here eight years, and just got poles this past Christmas.

So, yesterday evening, I wandered down to the waters with my pole and fished.

Now, twenty years ago, the lake was stocked. It also hasn't been fished in about 15 years. It is full of small mouth bass of good size, and sun fish that are bigger than Frank's hand.

I was hoping for a bass, but they were not interested in fake worms, fake minnows, hot dog chunks or colby cheese.

Of course, a fish is a fish to me, and the excitement of pulling in a sun fish for the first time in. . . uh, more than twenty years . . .was still fun. Those little fish can still put up quite a fight.

Besides, I just throw them back anyway.
