Well, it is Wednesday, which means I have just updated The Chronicle web site - well, I'm almost finished...

I don't know if non-local readers can relate, but this week's column is entitled Gardener's Faith.

The story on JP Haines made the front page, but without the pull out quote I added at the last minute - which was a really, really good quote.

I hate it when that happens.

I know I promised I would post it here, but I left the digital version at the office, and am too lazy to retype it.

Besides, the sun is shining, and I'm being called into the outdoors.

It is nature's baby season, and I spent part of the morning watching four baby Kill Deer (birds) plucking around the lake banks.

These are the offspring of the winged creature that threw herself in front of the riding lawn mower one day a few weeks ago, faking a broken wing and trying to lead me away from the nest.

I was going to mow around that corner of the lake, but figured I'd leave it alone.

I tried later, on foot, to find the nest and peek at the eggs. I never did find it, but now I know there were at least four of them.

Later in the day today, I saw a doe with two fawns crossing the road while on my delivery run.

It is hard to explain the feeling that comes over you when you have a wildlife experience - hard to give it the depth of feeling and emphasis it deserves.

Oh - and I sold another t-shirt at Impecunious Impressions today. This one says:

"Got coordinates?"

It's a geocaching thing, and if you don't know what that is, visit geocaching.com to learn about it.

I'm off - I think I'll get some sun.
