After several weeks, my schedule has come around that I can spend time in my flower beds.

Our budget has come around that I can actually do more than pull weeds too.

Mulch makes me happy.

Thus, Frank has brought mulch home with him every time he's visited the hardware store as of late.

We got 15 more bags yesterday, plus some garden timbers, stepping stones shaped like big feet, landscaping stone and peat moss.

Yee Haw!

Very slowly, I am regaining control of the flower beds.

Very slowly, they are beginning to look somewhat manicured again.

I have some new characters this year that have literally, tickled me pink.

The Lupine was gorgeous - a twelve inch stem covered in hot pink, bell-shaped blooms. The bees loved it.

Then, the Ranunculus bloomed, interesting and odd-shaped among my everyday blossoms.

But now, the Mexican Shell Flowers have started their show, and they are flat-out breath-taking.

They open in the sun, close in the shade. They're like a little cup with petals.

They're the first flowers I have every really talked to affectionately saying things like, "Your'e so beautiful," and "Aren't you interesting?"

Then, of course, there's the REALLY interesting creature, The Stink Plant. Otherwise known as The Sacred Lily of India, this is the collection that bloomed inside in late April and made us gag.

What were funky five-foot, waxy red funnels with a phalluses in the middle in April seem to be coming up now as leafy almost palm tree looking things.

They're very odd, and interesting, and I check on them every day, as each is about a week behind the other.

What? Oh! Photos you ask?

Yes, I have garden photos, and when I get the notion to post them, I will.

I've been meaning to do that for weeks.

:o)
