Four Good Moments

We’ve had a few major temper tantrums in the last few days and a lot of testing. So, to focused on the positive, here are four good moments recently.

1. Last night we were at our friend Becky’s house in Port Angeles. At bedtime Rose ran up and down the hall. John would poke his head out of the kitchen door and say, “Boo!” which would send her into paroxysms of giggles which would send David, strapped to John’s chest into paroxysms of giggles. And amazingly everyone went to sleep at a decent hour.

2. Debby: David are you pooping?
David: phhhhht!
Rose: That was a good one. We have a blow out. There is poop everywhere. What a mess! She got caca on her sock. Icky on the finger. Her onesie’s dirty. She nailed her kitty shirt. Who’s the super duper pooper? Who’s my poopy girl?

Rose is quoting from a poem I wrote about her and that I read at the poetry reading. She knows it better than me now.

3. Rose was completely enamored by Becky’s house. The bunkbeds were the biggest hit. She couldn’t wait to go to bed every night because of them. During rest time, she explored the little door in the kid’s room that leads into the attic. She found all the kid’s books, especially the ones with the pretty covers which happened to Bible stories in bad rhyme which I was quite happy to let Becky read to her.

4. Rose was starting to have a temper tantrum. John told her she had to pull it together or we weren’t going to let Miriam and Ariana (her cousins) come over dinner. She decided she wanted to cuddle with me on the front porch. It was a little chilly. She sat sideways on my lap and I wrapped my fuzzy around both of us. We tried to guess what the next person walking down the street would be wearing. She thought purple shirt, purple pants, and purple underpants. It’s Seattle; she had a good chance.
