It's true that some only a parent could understand: “la la” is water, “lo lo” is lotion, and “hang” is hand, but he’s making the ones he’s got work pretty hard for him. I particularly like how he ordered me around with “back” tonight. Put the water back on the counter. Put the lotion away too. Mommy, you forgot to put the book back on the shelf. Ahh, my tidy children. (Tonight Rose said in a rather frustrated tone, “Mommy, why do you always leave the swim bag in the way?” It was in the way; that’s the kind of household member I am.)

I’m also particularly fond of “lap,” as in Mommy I want to sit in your, and “cookie” because he says it with such eager glee.
