a peek at kindergarten

As some might have intuited from my monkey bar education post, I haven’t been too happy with kindergarten. After the dentist, I brought Rose to school. With a twinkle in her eye, she reminded me to be quiet as we went down the hall—people were working. It got pretty crowded near her classroom door. Kids were in the hall, two or three in a group with a high school student helping. They were doing fun projects like matching up the tiny objects—a peanut, a desk—with the letter they started with or playing concentration. Rose went straight to her locker, changed into her indoor shoes, put her lunch bag in the lunch bag box, put her pink folder in the pink folder box, and found her teacher who grinned at her. There was a buzz in the room, quiet concentration. I felt good.
