what went wrong: I scraped the car door, jammed the printer, and was unable to concentrate on writing poetry. I dithered around and dithered some more.

what went right: basically everything else.

David had a little trouble getting out the door but it was your normal no I want my sandles not my shoes kind of trouble not the kicking screaming I don't want to go school trouble.

On the way to school he said, "I'm in RainForest Room!" I said, "Yes, with Teacher Elana and Teacher Eileen." David said, "I have friends there!"

He was very excited to see his name everywhere: on the electronic check in system, on a nametag all ready for him, and, of course, on his hook. He went straight to the book corner, sat down on a chair, and started to read Buzz Lightyear. I said, "Can I have a hug and kiss goodbye." He gave it to me, and I left. I never, in all the years of dropping Rose off at childcare, had such an easy leave taking. Rose did a lot of grabbing my leg, begging me to stay for circle time, huffing and puffing. David barely gave me a glance.

I went to pick-up 15 minutes early and found David and his new friend Ruby playing in the sand. He continued to play happily with me watching. According to his teacher, he read books most of the day. He also painted a turtle, pooped in his diaper (and I didn't have to change it!), and ate a bar for snack.

He left smoothly and happily and has been playing independently and happily with Ariana the rest of the day.

I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.
