I get so nervous that we are going to rattle around the house all spring break, so I plan a bunch and then today more just came pouring in. I didn't get my nap!

This morning we got David off to school ok. Just a little normal resistance. Then Rose and I went to jazzercise where she had a wonderful time. I can't believe how fabulous it is that she thinks it is a treat to go to childcare while I work-out. There were lots of kids there because of break, but Rose likes it when she gets to be in charge of the babies too.

Then she and I went home and made oatmeal chocolate chip muffins. Cooking is usually John's purview, but it was the perfect activity for the time slot, and we needed muffins. Since we ate almost all of them, we should probably do it again this week.

I had just gotten the kids home and was rushing around the kitchen trying to get lunch on the table when the new neighbors showed up. They had an hour before the orthodonist. But of course they could come and have lunch with us. I actually love that they feel comfortable dropping by. It just meant I socialized with the mom instead of napping.

As soon as they left, we gathered the across-the-street neighbors for the sunflower seed planting party we had planned, planned as in the mom called a few minutes before, and I said of course. Which meant I supervised the watering can instead of napping.

We had to kick them out pretty quickly, so I could take the gang off to the play date we had actually scheduled weeks in advance. That was hanging out with an a previous colleague of mine and her two and half year old son. We spent almost an hour outside digging and raking. Can I point out that it was not balmy.

I got us home at 5:15, crashed for 10 minutes, and then helped John get dinner on the table. The door bell rang, but it was just David, no extra play dates this evening.
