Rose has been reading the Little House series, which has raised some interesting questions. Yesterday she asked me, Why did they have baby Grace?

Her point was if they were so poor and everyone was sick and barely making it, why did they have another child?

So, first I explained that some people just want to have more children. Then I explained that back then they might not have been able to control how many children they had. But now we can. And, I went into a little detail. So, now Rose knows about condoms and the pill.

The problem with this conversation is there is a BIG new piece of information that I glossed over. Because why would the sperm and egg be getting anywhere near each other if you didn't want to make a baby? That's the only reason we've discussed so far. I'm trying to frame my answer for when she discovers this logic flaw.
