Happy Hanukkah!

The holidays seems like come faster and faster don't they? Except this year, with only five days between Thanksgiving and Hanukkah, they really did. John and I have spent the last five nights making our lists and checking them twice. We actually really enjoy planning parties and thinking of what gifts would make our loved ones happy. We don't like figuring out how to add shopping into our schedules. But, with the help of the local independent toy store, the local independent bookstore, and the free shipping that is Amazon, we were ready for tonight.

David was seriously wired, but with my mom's help, we got him focused on setting the table. He loved picking out the tablecloths, giving everyone a bag of gelt. He especially loved picking out candles for his menorah. It makes me so happy to see him enjoying the holiday.

Rose did a lovely job wrapping all the presents. She has really gotten to the point where her help is a help.

The menu:

gluten latkes, frozen package from Trader Joe's, really good
gluten-free potato latkes, deep fried the Cook's recipe, fabulous
gluten-free sweet potato latkes, deep fried, beyond fabulous
apple sauce
apple sauce with cinnamon mixed in, David's idea and a big hit
sushi, I bought it myself
salad
Krispy Kreme donuts
