We won the school lottery, and David will be attending the same school as his sister and two cousins. It has been two years of angst, panic, stress, and wild contingency plans. If you've been following my fight to get siblings grandfathered in, you know we lost that battle. If you've following my fight to have combined waiting list for our school instead of two tracks for the two different programs, you know we lost that battle.

The school district told us we had a slightly better chance of getting in applying to the contemporary program as opposed to the Montessori program that we wanted, but that slightly better chance was somewhere between zero and none. I was leaning toward the slightly better odds. John said if we had no chance, we might as well be true to our hearts and apply to Montessori. I'm glad we followed our beliefs instead of trying to game the system. It feels more honest, and by some miracle, it worked.

It's been three days since I've heard, and I still haven't calmed down. I still feel like something big and awful is about to happen. I'm having trouble sleeping. It's just not settling in. But, I can now actually envision what our life will be like next year.
