John's birthday isn't until tomorrow, but we celebrated tonight with gyros and ice cream sundaes. Yum! The kids were hyper and fun without being insane and crazy making. It's a fine line. Come to think of it, they were hyper and fun yesterday after I took them swimming. Maybe they are getting over the perpetual fall colds.

Rose brought out her Sunday School homework about where do you see God. She had checked the obvious ones like a mother and child, a person helping someone hungry, but she also checked two neighbors fighting. Her reasoning: if God is around for everything, then God has to be around for the bad things as well as the good. That was more nuanced then I usually get on the subject. Then David added that he thought God was in the compliment circles and the solution circles they have at school. I thought that was pretty cool extrapolating from Sunday School to regular school.

Talking about solution circles, David brought home a chart for us to solve a problem at home. He wants to solve the problem of him and Rose fighting. On the one hand, I am absolutely thrilled that his teacher is giving him tools to peacefully solve conflict and that he is applying those tools both in and out of the classroom. On the other hand, I get very tired of this teacher telling me how to parent.
