Rose danced on the McCaw Hall stage in front of a thousand people. Yes, we are amazed. Granted she wasn't alone and the audience was all parents. We are still amazed.

Her elementary school is one of four the Pacific Northwest Ballet partner with. The PNB runs a three month workshop with the fourth graders, teaching them concepts of movement and guiding them through choreographing a dance. They also got to attend a dance and do a backstage tour. I'd been all, yeah that's nice, until I actually watched the kids dance on this professional stage. Their choreography was interesting, their movement committed. Not everyone leapt well, but they all through themselves into their leaps.

In between the student performances, professional ballet dancers illustrated the history of ballet. John and I were fascinated by the differences between classical and modern. Neither of us adore ballet, but we both appreciate the athleticism and artistry it takes.

Rose had a fantastic time. She wants to join a teen dance troupe the ballet helps support. I say yes.
