Cedar Point

The grandparents live less than an hour away from "the best amusement park in the world" and we had never been. . .until now. We all had a blast. I was worried that since Cedar Point was known for these ginormous roller coasters, which I had absolutely no intention of going on, it would be a waste of money. Actually, the super scary roller coasters siphoned off much of the crowd, leaving short lines and lots of fun for me on the medium scary rides.

We went on the mine ride John had gone on as a kid--fun and scary; the iron dragon where you got to hang down and swing out--fun and scary; Shoot the rapids--a big drop and very wet; and Thunder Canyon--very wet. Since it was mid-eighties (our low temp day!), the wet rides were a welcome relief. We also had a great time on some giant swings. Rose and Grammy rode the Ferris wheel, and the children all ate park food without complaining.

We had an absolute blast. John did all the driving, and we got home and went straight to dinner at the Kendal dining hall--no prep or clean-up. We are definitely doing Cedar Point again.
