David was a very snuggly child. Anyone who has ever read a book to him can attest to that. He'd drape himself over your side, often managing to dig an elbow into your ribs. He just glued himself to you. And with me and John it wasn't just during reading time. He'd launch himself into my arms, snuggle at bedtime, snuggle at all times. John got the morning shift. Every morning at 7:00 David would come into our bed, crawl over me (often kicking some sensitive body part on the way), and snuggle in with John.

David no longer wakes us to snuggle in the morning. He still wakes us to announce he's going downstairs, but he no longer gets in bed. We don't hold hands crossing the street, and he hugs me a lot less. We still snuggle while we read but not as deeply.

I am trying to respect David's need for space and adjust to it.
