A friend of mine says kids will always find something to fight about in the back of the car. I suppose she's right. I suppose this is a losing battle, but oh, I'm tired of the fight over bugs.

And by bugs, I mean VW bugs. You all know the version of the game where you say "punch buggy blue" when you see a blue VW bug and punch the person next to you. My kids aren't even playing that version, and they are still driving me crazy.

They play by points. A regular bug is the base value. A convertible is times two. An old one is times two. And an old convertible is times four. And what is the base value? Zero. That's right. No one is getting any points. They are just getting bragging rights for calling it out first.

Oh and brag they do. I saw it first! No, I did! Green one! You didn't see it yet. Yellow one! That one didn't count. Yes it did. No it old convertible!

From the minute we get in the car, there is a constant battle for bug sightings. They tried taking turns. They tried ignoring each other. Today they tried keeping track in their heads. I had no idea how many VW bugs were in Seattle until my children made me miserable over every one of them.
