Rose's school concert

We went to Rose's school concert. The whole thing only took ½ an hour and her portion was about 10 minutes of that. Normally, I'd be thrilled by the brevity since loud squawking and managing David's boredom don't usually make such events fun for me, but this time I actually wished it had been longer.

It was such an effort to get there that I wanted a bit more pay off. I am extremely lucky in that that my partner usually gets home before 7:00, unlike most of my friends. He, in fact, usually gets home by 4:45, though I am quick to explain to non-academics that being home doesn't mean not working. Still, home means you can make dinner and go off to school concerts. Unfortunately, this was one of those nights he had a late meeting. We ended having my mom drive Rose to the concert early for tune ups, I came 15 minutes later with David, and John came 10 minutes late. I know many people's lives operate under that level of chaos. Uff.

Maybe I'm becoming inured to heavy handed drummers and blown out trumpets, but I did not hate the concert. They played songs I knew like Twinkle Twinkle and the advanced strings, of which Rose is a part, seemed to be in sync. I also liked that I knew so many of the kids and the parents. Hello, my community.
