David's vocal concert

He sang. At least I think so. I saw his lips moving. This is a big improvement over last year.

We all had a lovely time at the K-3 vocal music concert. Instead of American folksongs, they did African, African-American spirituals, and jazz. A nice history lesson.

David was very nervous leading up to the concert. He kept saying he didn't want to go, but I think the most important part of the concert is learning how to face that fear of performing in public. We promised that 700 people were not all staring at him. Actually, every parent was staring at their kid, so really only his seven family members were looking at him. That seemed to help.

There was a great sense of community at the concert. Rose got to be one of the big kids and pass out programs. She kept pointing our her reading buddy from a K-1 class and other little kids that adored her.

The kids were very jolly on the way home. Rose asked David about some of his lyrics, so I got to hear them. The concert itself was kind of a mush of noise. But a joyful noise.
