the reach performance

Rose had her big dance performance yesterday. She performed a modern dance on the stage of McCaw hall where the actual Pacific Northwest Ballet performs.

Reach is an outreach program from the Pacific Northwest Ballet for kids 11-15. It's an 8 week session in different dance styles, and they take themselves very seriously. Rose was a bit startled at the level of seriousness the teachers demanded. Well, she was more shocked last year when she took it for the first time and the teacher had them do pushups when they weren't focused.

Rose and her two closest friends did it together which is very nice because though she goes to school with Amelia they don't have any classes together, and Jasper is at a completely different school. Between this and circus class, they are guaranteed to see each other every Saturday.

I frankly can't tell you much about the performance. I rarely looked at the group as a whole; my focus was on Rose. She looked good. She was happy with the group and her part, so good.

And the rest of the day went reasonably well. Despite the horrendous traffic issues, we got to and fro without melt downs. Despite this being the third time we had to sit through an hour and a half of student dance performers to see our darling at the very end, David did not flip, and I took a little nap. It all went very well. (Grandparents video is coming).
