I love mathematicians

I could say I love John; John is a mathematician; therefore, I love mathematicians. But, we all know that is faulty logic. However, it is true that I love John, John went to M.I.T. grad school with a lot of really cool mathematicians who I got to hang out with and enjoy immensely and several of them have come to visit recently. Lucky us!

Two weeks ago Vic was in town. Not only do we know him from Boston, but we all moved to Minneapolis at the same time and became very close. Lots of canoeing, playing, and eating together. It's sort of shocking to realize that was twenty years ago. His daughter is now graduating from high school.

Friday, Pat and David G. came for dinner. They told hilarious stories. David updated us on how his fig tree is doing, and we all played my new game of Apples to Apples the Princess Bride version. David was also part of our Minneapolis family.

And not to forget Hal and Mike who were here in the last six months.

Some people may have a stereotype about mathematicians: they don't bathe, change their clothes, make eye contact, or talk about anything other than math. I have met them too. But these folks are some of the most charming, erudite, well rounded and fun people I've ever met. Oh and they are world class in jujitsu and shape note singing among other talents. Such a pleasure to be with them.
