The outdoor gorgeous private swimming pool my mother is a member of requires all families to help out twice a summer. You sit behind the front desk, check people in, and sell all the little kids otter pops and other frozen candy. It's a blast. I love going behind the desk--privileged space. I love being of service and selling little kids candy and grown-ups cold water. I love feeling at the center of things. Since we don't actually live in the neighborhood anymore, I barely no anyone who wanders through, but the pool manager used to live across the street from me, and he's always friendly.

The shift is 12:30-6:30, so we got together a gang of 16 of us to enjoy the day--three families and various bonus children. I love my Bagley peeps. My sister and I traded off working the desk and hanging out in the pool talking to our friends. Once again David did not have a bestie there, but he seemed to have a reasonable enough time playing in the pool and a really good time with the rest of the gang and a dress up box.

Mom's house is fabulous. It has air conditioning. 'Nough said. Mom also has a phenomenal collection of puppets because she was a children's librarian, and a fascinating dress up box because my grandma got clothes from around the world and many ended up here. We ordered pizza and laughed a lot.
