Wallace Falls

I had a great hike to Wallace Falls yesterday. I think this was my first hike post kids, sans kids. That puts us at 13 years ago. It was so relaxing. I only had to worry about my lunch, my extra clothes, getting myself up the hill. It was also the longest hike I've done in a long time--6 miles, 1300 ft. elevation gain. Much to my surprise, it was no problem. I borrowed my sister's hiking poles, and I felt I was flying up the hill. That might be a bit of an exaggeration. I still went as slowly as I used to go--almost 5 hours for those 6 miles, but I never had that "I'm never going to make it feeling."

I went with three girlfriends and we talked non-stop. Two of them I don't know very well, so it was so much fun to hear their stories. The drive to Gold Bar was easy, much easier than our typical trip on I-90. And, the weather report was wrong. It predicted heavy rain from noon on, and the rain didn't start until we were almost home. I'm going to try to go on some adult only fall hikes.
