I've been holding off on giving the back to school report until we knew we were really really back to school. The union and district reached a tentative agreement Tuesday afternoon, which coincided with our families for teachers rally downtown. Then there still wasn't school Wednesday--the all day play dates continued. The kids wrote, directed, and filmed a comedy on Daddy's iphone. Finally, the kids went back to school Thursday, oh heavens yes, but the union still had to ratify the agreement last night. No ratification and we would be back out of school today. Contract ratified, kids went to school, I went to work, hallelujah!

The kids and I are bad at transitions. I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop, but so far, this transition has been great. Rose has not gone into panic attacks about homework. David had not complained about a new teacher, new classmates. Despite my cold, I am writing poetry, sending out poetry, prepping poetry readings, and doing a lot of work towards the course I'm teaching in a week.
