'Checked out Children of Men last night. Is that a flick we can both endorse, E? Between the car scene and the immigrant camp siege - both a single, frightening shot - I'm surprised this film didn't make more of a splash last year. Think Scorcese's Copa shot in Goodfellas, except on crack.

Bleak and depressing as hell, though. Strip away the women-can't-conceive detail, and director Cuaron's future worldview still doesn't feel all that implausible, the rate we're heading.

So Georgetown's Jeff Green went fifth and will join Kevin Durant in Seattle - I like this a lot. Yesterday I got home, flipped on ESPN, just saw "Boston Celtics select Jeff Green" and had a small heart attack before seeing the trade details. Apparently all of Seattle flipped too when all they had heard at first was "Ray Allen: traded."

Green could have a solid pro career as Durant's wing man - the next Scottie Pippen, even. (without all the illegitimate kids) Hopefully that ripples into more elite recruiting for the dear ol' Blue & Gray.

Speaking of B&G, I'm wondering if he caught the draft at a local Seattle bar. And if so, whether the whiskey sours were too tart for his particular tastes.
