I'd like to take a brief moment from my ridonkulously busy post-Labor Day Tuesday and thank B&G for selflessly falling on the proverbial sword - the proverbial grenade - and freeing me from the title of Alleged Sports Jinx.

B&G flew back to the Midwest this weekend to watch his law school alma mater, UMich, launch its 07-08 football season. I think any further description of events this weekend would be cruel and unusual. (The karma alone could shift "Alleged Sports Jinx" back on me.) So let's just say B&G is now the undisputed Alleged Sports Jinx.

And he's smart enough to know when he's stuck. He knows there's no comeback to "Oh yeah? Well I didn't fly halfway across the country to witness my team lose to a I-AA program." It tops both of my ND visits and my Lakers 2001 Finals game 1 combined.

Heading into Idaho/SC, I wasn't sure if Saturday's stunning loss gave hope that more surprises could fall or that there was no way lightning could strike twice in the same day. (Turned out the latter.) I thought Idaho played inspired football, though. They clearly wanted to win one for Larry Craig.

Here's hoping UMich bounces back and beats OSU. And even if they do, B&G still holds the record. Thanks, B&G!
