Potential 2008 Employer: "Please list your reporting skills."

David Spett: "Well, I took the dean of my J-school school to task for questionable anonymous sourcing. The sources' quotes neatly served the dean's agenda. The dean, who leads one of the premiere programs in the country, told me he couldn't remember where he got the quotes."

The legacy of Lavine gets stranger and more embarrassing, making its way to the Poynter home page. This is just unbelievable. Do you know how hard it is to get an anonymous quote in a newspaper?? And this guy, he just ... Christ, I'm done. Time for drink no. 3.

The best part is a journalism faculty so marginalized it's scared to be quoted while the journalism student reminds what it means to speak to speak truth to power. (Of course, Spett probably doesn't have a family to support or a mortgage, either....)

I'd be remiss not to give a cross-world shoutout to Caiburo. As this Chicago Reader media bite points out he helped publicize these troubling events ever since we finished our time abroad - and graduated in the nick of time.

Medill 80, represent!
