This entry by Brainsalad makes me wish I was anywhere but in California. Now that it's the fall I'm yearning to be back in Chicago. I miss fall weather. This whole 90 and 100 degree weather thing that's been going on in LA is miserable. I miss the kind of weather that he woke up to this morning. Hey, Brainsalad - I'll trade with ya. I'll come out and live out east and you can live in the sweltering heat and dirtyness that is Los Angeles.

This morning Rob woke up to a rather unpleasant surprise. Due to the bus strike a co-worker (Connie) has been picking him up in the morning (around 7:15am) and taking him to work. The phone rang this morning around 5:45am. It was Connie. She told Rob that she needed to be in to work early this morning and asked if he still wanted a ride in with her. Knowing he had no other option, he said yes. She told him that she would be here in ten minutes. *blink* What I want to know is why she didn't call him earlier (like when she left her place a half an hour before that call). Rob had to jump into his clothes and run out the door. He didn't even have time for a shower. While it's cool of Connie to be giving him rides to work in the morning, it's not cool to give someone ten minutes notice if you're going to pick them up way earlier than usual. So poor Rob got jarred from his sleep only to have to skip a shower and run out the door. He got to work around 6:30am and didn't seem happy about it. I was hoping that being in to work an hour and a half early would mean that he would be able to leave early today so that we could get a head start on the traffic, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. As I type we're only 20 minutes away from his normal leave work time. Right now I'm just hoping that he's awake enough to do cop watch on our trip tonight.

Not much is new with me. I'm spending today doing things that need to be done before we head out. We're heading up to Solvang for my birthday. My Mom's birthday present to me is paying for our hotel (there's no way we could afford going if it wasn't for her). It will be nice to get out of the city for a little while. Solvang is so beautiful and relaxing. We won't be there long, but any little stint out of LA is nice. We're heading out tonight and will be back on Sunday (my birthday). The bright side is that I get a great trip. The down side is that I get to spend my birthday doing the one thing I HATE (driving). But it will be worth it to get away for awhile. Our cat sitter is ready to go so the cats shouldn't miss us too much while we're away. Tina really is amazing. If you ever need anyone to watch your house or your animals while you're away let me know, she's the best.

Well, I had better go and finish up last minute preparations for our trip. I'll post about the trip either on Sunday when I get back or on Monday.

This has to be the weirdest quiz result I have ever seen in my life.

sparkly horses are all fine and good but not
when they steal you from your sleep!

How INFLATED is your ego?
