2008-07-08 7:47 PM Yesterday and today Another day, another dollar.
We were really busy yesterday here at the hotel. It started at about 7:30 and I had people coming in to check in pretty much non-stop until about 10:45. I sold 23 rooms to walk-ins in that time period. Needless to say I was pretty tired by the time my relief came in. Today has been pretty busy too, but not as bad as yesterday. I guess everyone was trying to get home after the 4th of July weekend. The phone today hasn't been as bad as yesterday either. It seemed like everytime I answered the phone last night I got into an argument with someone. People were calling to make reservations and they didn't want to give me a credit card number. The policy here is that we can not make a reservation without one, especially when we're busy like we were yesterday. We won't hold a room for you unless we know that we have a way to get paid if you decide not to show up. People were also arguing with me about our coupon. We have a coupon in a few travel brochures, I think I've mentioned this before, it's only for walk-in's and based on the availablility of the rooms we have when you get here. Well, I had all kinds of people calling me yesterday to make a reservation and they wanted the coupon rate. It says right on the coupon that it isn't good with a reservation, I don't know what is so hard to understand about that. I stuck to the rules and told the people straight, they may not have liked it, but I don't really care. I had one lady call me and she wanted to make a reservation, she told me she was traveling with her dog. We have a very strict pet policy here, so I asked her how much the dog weighed. She said he was 50-55 lbs. I explained to her that we don't accept pets that weigh more than 30lbs and she said, "okay, I want to make a reservation anyway." I told her I couldn't do it and she said "what, do you have a scale there to weigh them when we come in?" No, we don't have a scale, we expect our guests to be honest. She still insisted she wanted to book a room and I told her I refused to make a reservation for someone who lies and I hung up the phone. Dishonesty really makes me mad, especially when the guest lie right to my face (or to my ear in cases when I'm on the phone) and I have no patience for it. But, that was yesterday, today is a new day and it hasn't been too bad so far. I have a partially slipped disk in my upper back, maybe I caught it from Mommie :) It's only partially out of position, so it's not hurting super bad, but it is uncomfortable. I don't know if it's because of the way I'm sleeping or the extra weight of my tummy or what. I'll have MD rub it when I get home and I'll put the rice buddy on it and hopefully it will feel better tomorrow. The plans for my baby shower are all set thanks to Cameron's mommy. I can't express how much it means to me that she has thrown this whole thing together. I'm super excited about it, I think it will be great. So, it's another day of the same old, same old. But a different day. One day closer to me meeting Muffin, one closer to my baby shower!, one closer to seeing Mommie, and one day less I'll have to work before I leave to have little Muffin. The days seem to drag by and go so fast all at the same time, I hope I can continue to keep up :) Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
