NO TALKING!!!!!

Today I took a quick trip to Washington and saw the Watergate, the Kennedy Center, the Indonesian Embassy, the Portuguese Embassy, the Washington Monument, the Capitol, the J. Edgar Hoover Building, the office of the Solicitor General, and many chi-chi little shops in Georgetown. We were only slightly lost.

We still managed to arrive at our destination 7 minutes early. We did not, however, manage lunch until after our meeting. I consumed a portobello mushroom quesadilla (should have been called a queasydilla) in Union Station (this should be on the same list at not eating anyplace called Mom's, or eating oysters in months with an R). I was only slightly nauseous on the train home, but I attribute that to having been banished from the "Quiet Car" (who knew Amtrak even had these?) when my interpretation of "no loud conversations" differed from the conductor's (he thought this meant "do not talk under any circumstances or I will reprimand you like a 5 year old who needs to be placed in time out and will discourage you from ever riding Amtrak again even though we are fucking terrible at managing our business and threaten to go under every year or so, thereby shutting down an American institution", whereas I thought it meant "no loud conversations"). After the experience on the ill-fated train to Connecticut several weeks ago, they are now at 2 strikes.
