You know that old adage about speaking ill of the dead? Bull pucky. Why shouldn't we when the person was evil rotten slime? Death does not burn you into a good person if you were a racist scum when you were alive.

Jesse Helms died on independence Day, 2008. There's at the very least a declaration of something to be found in that irony.

He was hateful, despicable scum and I'm glad he's dead. So much for my being a reasonable and/or nice person. i won't pretend to mourn Jesse Helms, and I am glad we're finally rid of his presence on Earth. So there.
