The week brings such sadness. If you have wondered where to send a donation to help in the crisis in Haiti, consider the International Rescue Committee.
I offer them because they are very effective (a 4 star rating at charitynavigator.org) and they come out of a history of crisis. The IRC was created in the 30s to rescue victims, initially, of the Nazis, later those in Spain and italy. I sent a contribution to help in memory of Miep Gies. IRC has sent its Emergency Response Team to Haiti and "will be working with overwhelmed local aid groups to provide vital medical care, clean water and sanitation to the quake's survivors."
