Ahhh...the holiday season. Otherwise known as, the season of gaining weight. Parties, get-togethers, too much alcohol and high-caloric food. Yum.

In order to head this whole thing off at the pass, I bought our Christmas gift the other day. Yeah, it is "our" Christmas gift because, hopefully, we'll both get good use from it. We generally don't "do" Christmas in the traditional way. I think it is because we pretty much get what we want, when we want it throughout the year. Not that we can afford it, mind you, but we generally get it nonetheless. For that reason, when it comes to Christmas, we don't have very big wish lists. This year I'd like a mortar and pestle set and T wants a new pair of jeans.

Santa might provide.

So, anyway. This is what I got. It is pretty cool. Those of you from the northern climates know that getting outside and engaging in physical activity at this time of the year is more difficult than some think. Unless, you do cross-country skiing or snowshoeing, both of which I'd like to try sometime, the available activities are few. Here's hoping the trainer will get some good use this winter!

Oh, and in order to not fail at a New Year's resolution - I am NOT including this in any so-called resolution. I'm not even sure I'll make any resolutions. THAT is far too far away to think about.

We've both used it once so far.

Something to think about: “Whoever, in the pursuit of science, seeks after immediate practical utility, may generally rest assured that he will seek in vain.” ~Hermann von Helmholtz

Soundtrack: some silly Seagull song that won't get out of my head
