I teach just a few miles from the Burbank Fire that's burning right now. Yesterday afternoon, I saw a plume of smoke and wondered what it was, and heard there was a small fire in Burbank. Then smelled lots of smoke at home that evening, and wondered if I needed to worry. Called Glendale PD and was told it was contained and no worries. So I went to bed.

This morning, when I got to school the flames had died down and it looked like this:





Then around lunchtime we got this:





Then after school, much to my surprise, the "contained" fire looked like this:





I just got a call from a friend about 20 minutes ago, asking if we wanted to come stay at their house tonight. We live on the other side of the burning hill, but so far, no worries, then again, I haven't checked the news lately.
