So, we headed east from Redlands out into the land of desert. (as opposed to the land of dessert-quite tasty)

My in laws had headed out on Friday so that we'd have at least one room when everyone arrived on Saturday. It took us about an hour to get there and when we arrived we met up with the grandparents. One of the rooms was available so we managed to get checked into it and changed into swimwear and headed to the pool. I'd picked up a new swimsuit for LB as he'd outgrown his swim diaper and was potty trained and didn't need a swim diaper anyway. It was too big, but a safety pin in the back fixed that for now.

We walked back over to the lobby and out behind it to the pool area. There were lounge chairs everywhere and a towel check to get nice fluffy towels. And into the pool we went. LB, Phil and I were joined a bit later by LB's gramps. We hung out, played and generally relaxed in the pool, nice warm water and we couldn't have asked for a nicer day. We noticed a water slide at the pool (in a side pool really) and went to look, but it said that no kids under 48" were allowed, so we opted out. After swimming, it was time for lunch by the poolside (did I mention that this place was nice!!). LB ate his lunch, then I think he ate part of everyone else's too. He seemed to enjoy it greatly too. I think swimming makes him hungry. He'd had all those waffles for breakfast, but still ate a lot.

Then it was time to head back to the room for naptime. I stopped at the desk to inquire about our "adjoining" room. Their idea of adjoining was different from what I'd expected, but it worked. But anyway, the other room wasn't quite ready, but they would call us when it was. When we returned to our room, the cleaning crew was finishing up the other room, so we got LB ready for nap and asked the crew to let us know when they were done so that we could take over that room too (to let LB nap in peace and quiet). They decided to close the room instead of letting us into it (they SHOULD have called the front desk to ask if we were getting that room too, and if so let us into it), and then it took the front desk 30 minutes to bring the keys for the room to us. LB took his nap and we hung out in the other room-where Phil's brother would be staying. The other brothers arrived, then we eventually got LB up and got dressed to go out to dinner.

We headed into town to a very loud and very crowded steak house. Dinner was yummy, but also loud. LB had little patience for sitting at the dinner table. He ate, but when he was done, he wanted to get down and run around. So he went outside with one of his uncles who was also done eating. I took over outside after a while and Phil joined me too. Then it was time for dessert, however the restaurant had lost power while we were out and was plunged into darkness. LB was NOT a fan of the "romantic" lighting. That and the half cooked souffle was enough to head us out and back to the hotel. We stopped along the way for some snacks to eat after LB went to bed.

Back at the hotel it was LB's b-day gift time. He received a remote controlled robot from Nana and Gramps, some bubbles, a car, and some music to play from Uncle Michael, and a name train from Uncle Matthew. All were very exciting and LB seemed to like everything-but mean mommy wouldn't let him open the RC toy at the hotel.

Then it was off to bed for him, some more hanging out for us, and then off to bed for us too.

Stay tuned for part 3 (hopefully sooner than part 2)
